First, for my clients, here’s 2 steps to make sure you can use a credit card without using a PayPal account:
– 1 –
On the first page, go to the link underneath the PayPal login:
– 2 –
On the information screen, make sure to uncheck the box about creating a PayPal account:
There might be a 3rd, which is to say “no” to the question that a PayPal account exists with your email address. You may have created one, but you’re not obligated to use it.
Having repeatability watch the same commercials on Hulu, which I pay for, is one thing. Knowing they’re completely erroneous is a whole other level of annoying.
PayPal is point in case:
One of the major issues I have with getting paid by clients is PayPal. The reason is all the little ways to attempt to coax users into creating an account. Above details all the roadblocks they put in the way of my clients paying me.
It’s not lost on me that PayPal wants to increase it’s user base. However it’s made my small business branch out to other services like Stripe who, after reducing their withholding period to 2 days, has become my go-to credit card processor.
At times though, Paypal has it’s occasional usefulness like instant access to funds via their Debit Mastercard. Since I get charged a transaction fee & a debit card fee & a bank ATM fee, I’ve paid my dues and do not believe that my clients nor I need the headache of being corralled into creating/using a PayPal account.
Take your fees and be happy, PayPal.
